Grimaud's Volunteer Army
SCCA President David Grimaud has done an excellent job assembling a team of volunteers to help with our scholastic events. Grimaud's Army was out in full force for the 2009 scholastic championships, which were run with "Precision-Tune" efficiency. President Grimaud was on the frontlines as a floor assistant and liaison with the parents.

The SCCA would like to thank the following volunteers for their dedicated service at this year's scholastic championships:

David Causey - Head TD (Tournament Director)
Dr. Mickey Lauria - Floor Captain
Stephen Welt - Asst. TD/High School
Dr. Clyde Smith - Asst. TD/Middle School
Jason Paddock - Asst. TD/Elementary School
Rudy Gwaltney - Floor Assistant
Ron Labrecque - Registration & Floor Assistant
Mike Games - Registration & Parent Relations
David Grimaud - Floor Assistant & Parent Relations
Rade Musulin - Registration
Bob Halliday - Registration
Maureen Grimaud - Hall Assistant
Henry White - DGT Boards
David & Rebekah Gongre - Snack Bar
Jay King - Chess Vendor
The creation of the SCCA was due in large part to the efforts of Mr. Elmer B. Hallman of Spartanburg.  A resolution adopted at the association's 1926 organizational meeting noted that Mr. Hallman "by the exercise of his energy, tact, enthusiasm and zeal, brought about such interest, in South Carolina, in the game of chess as to make a State Chess Association a possibility. . . ."

We ask that you support the SCCA with the same energy, tact, enthusiasm and zeal.

Sincerely,
